Detoxing masculinity

Originally posted on Apr 02, 2019

We live in a patriarchal society where men hold power and privilege at an enormous cost. Most men have been taught to value independence, and strength over intimacy, empathy, and vulnerability. We are overwhelmed by big feelings, as most of us were never taught the skills to manage them or to value our own emotionality. We will deconstruct narratives of toxic masculinity that are harmful to people of all genders and build new forms of healthy masculinity and taking action together.

Maybe your queer community rejects Christianity or religion, so you don't want to confide in them. On top of all this, couples therapy can get pricey! This group might be a good fit for you. Full of Ourselves: A self-empowerment group for teen girls

Originally posted on Dec 28, 2018

Girls are growing up in a culture where they are sent the message that what they look like is more important than who they are. Many girls weigh their self-esteem on their physical image and view their bodies as the measure of their ultimate worth. This predisposes girls to disordered thinking and can create unhealthy relationships to their bodies, food and others. This group aims to give girls an entirely different lens through which to see, know and value themselves and their peers.
