Parenting is hard. You have read the books, listened to the podcasts, done the Google searches, and listened to all of the advice, yet you find yourself unsure about the kind of parent you want to be. You experienced trauma as a child and said you would never do the same to your children, however, you find yourself paralyzed by old feelings now that you are a parent. You know your child needs support and want a safe space for them to process their emotions.
My Background and Approach
My journey as a therapist began in 2011 when I began working in non-profits that support children and families that have experienced trauma and/or abuse. I believe therapy is about the relationship and human connection. You can expect to find a warm, comforting environment where you can have hard conversations when you're ready to have them. Sometimes those conversations are going to be uncomfortable and scary but through a real, genuine connection, struggles become easier to bear. I will support you by listening to the hard things that no one wants to talk about and holding it for you until it doesn't feel that difficult anymore. This important work is done through humor, building a strong relationship, finding the strengths and resources you already have within you, and open, authentic communication. I specialize in play therapy, trauma-focused, and somatic modalities.
