Hi! My name is West Breedlove. I am a trauma-informed therapist practicing in the beautiful city of Chattanooga, TN.
Counselor in Chattanooga, TN
Supervised by Steve McIlvaine, M.A., LMFT #129, LPC-MHSP #560
I am trained as a Trauma therapist. My clinical approach for trauma work includes Component Based Psychotherapy (CBP) and Trauma-Focused CBT. My treatment framework is designed to address the legacy of complex trauma in children and adult clients.
As a therapist trained in Marriage and Family Therapy, I adopt an EFT approach. "EFT for couples is the gold standard for empirically validated intervention in this field" (https://iceeft.com). Whether or not you choose me as a therapist, do yourself (and those you love) a favor and read Hold Me Tight by Sue Johnson.
ACT is a mindfulness-based treatment built around developing "psychological flexibility." What that means is learning to sit with instead of fight unwanted thoughts and feelings. We know that resisting thoughts actually empowers them all the more. ACT is an empirically-based intervention that is helpful in treating OCD, Depression, Anxiety, Addictions, and many other challenges. (Even if you don't see me as a therapist, please check out "A Liberated Mind," by Steven Hayes.)
