J. Caleb Cheavens, PLPC, NCCCounselor, PLPC
I went into nursing for all the wrong reasons, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I had convinced myself that my dream was to work as an ER nurse, and I spent 5 years beating myself to a pulp as I tried to make that work for me. During that time I thought that I was learning how to be a better nurse, but instead I was learning how hard it was to commit to something only because I thought I should. But I also learned that healthcare professionals are exceptional people, and that I value what they do (even if I don't want do it myself). I observed providers pushing their bodies beyond the point of pain in order to bring comfort to their patients. And I watched underpaid techs rising to the challenge of a professional environment that they hadn't been prepared for. The whole spectrum of suffering and joy that I witnessed during my time as a bedside nurse led me to this place where I am devoted to helping with the unique challenges faced by healthcare professionals.
