I believe that although everyone experiences life transitions, some come with more stress than others. I want my clients to feel that their experiences and emotions are valid, no matter what they are currently going through. I am here to help my clients navigate through stressful and significant times their lives.
Anxiety can look different in everyone, however some key symptoms stick out. My clients may experience anxiety in social situations; they may get stuck in a negative thought loop; they may feel sick to their stomachs or get headaches; they may get angry. Anxiety is so personalized to the individual and I am well versed in helping my clients get to the root cause and process situations that contribute to or make it difficult to shake their anxiety.
Many of my clients are adolescents and I strive to give them a voice and help build confidence. Adolescence is a pivotal time in life that is full of transition, relationship (family, friends, etc.) navigation, and finding oneself. Therapy is a great resource for adolescents to have during this time in life and when given the proper tools, they thrive like no other.
The root of all healing comes from processing emotion, and this is not an easy thing to do. As humans we avoid, resist, and repress in order to protect ourselves. Using EFT, I can build a relationship with my clients, pull the emotion out, and help make connections. Therapy is a safe space to process emotions and my clients and I work together to break down those barriers.
We all need practical skills to use when we experience symptoms that impact our lives. CBT is great because we can learn about and practice these skills in session. My clients can then feel empowered to apply what they've learned to real-life situations; identifying a thought that then triggers an emotional reaction--plus learning behavioral activation in order to make a change and start feeling better overall.
The therapeutic process itself, for me, is person-centered. I meet all of my clients with unconditional positive regard and I want my clients to feel heard and accepted. Anything goes in the therapeutic space, so come as you are and we will process everything in the here and now, together.
