I approach therapy through a Contemporary Psychoanalytic Lens to understand what is being communicated through one's behaviors and understand how past experiences influence current relationships. As we form a relationship, I have found individuals develop stronger insight, aiding with a deeper understanding of self, and experiencing more lasting and sustainable relief.
Symptoms of historical trauma include denial, depersonalization, isolation, memory loss, nightmares, psychic numbing, hypervigilance, substance abuse, identification with death, and unresolved grief.
Symptoms of anxiety include stress that's out of proportion to the impact of the event, inability to set aside a worry, restlessness, hypervigilance, irritability, lack of concentration, racing thoughts, unwanted thoughts, feeling of impending doom, insomnia, nausea, palpitations, or trembling.
Symptoms of depression can be heavy, overwhelming, and debilitating. Individuals experiencing feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, loss of interest in daily activities, appetite or weight changes, sleep changes, anger or irritability, loss of energy, self-loathing, reckless behavior, thoughts of self-harm or suicide, or concentration problems are encouraged to seek help.
Our internal world reflects a lifetime of experiences affecting how we process and interpret each other within relationships. I approach couples/marriage therapy through a Contemporary Psychoanalytic Lens, deepening the understanding of what is being communicated through behaviors. Within therapy, individuals can safely work towards redefining relationships, experience catharsis and address concerns that initially brought them to see me.
Attachment work originally began with John Bowlby and was defined as "lasting psychological connectedness between human beings." Attachment theory explains how the relationship between a parent and child emerges and how that relationship then influences an individual's development. I work with individuals to get a thorough understanding of their attachment development to understand more about what they may be encountering emotionally and cognitively; as individuals and within relationships.
I work with several individuals (both male and female) ranging from the ages of 60 to 74 years of age. Together we are building healthy and trusting relationships that allow them to be seen, heard, understood, and validated for who and where they are, where they have been, and what they have experienced in their life.
I work with a wide variety of individuals ranging from 14 to 74, some of which struggle are working through the healing process from grief and loss. Whether losing a loved one, a friend, a fur family member, a career or working through personal health concerns; having someone to walk through it with you helps provide the support and healing needed most.
I work with a wide variety of individuals ranging from 14 to 74, some of which struggle with symptoms of Borderline, Histrionic, Narcissistic, Avoidant, and Dependent Personality Disorders. These individuals have stories revealing a great deal of pain from wounds that did not heal properly or completely and manifest in patterns throughout their lives. Together we will uncover and process through experiences while establishing a safe and healthy therapeutic relationship towards hope and healing.
