Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
My clients are sensitive, resilient, creative people who are feeling stuck, tired, hurt, or struggling. I help them process trauma so they can reconnect with themselves and others as well as shift old patterns so they can live more freely in the present. We spend time recovering and uncovering their resources. I respect the dedication it takes to live an authentic life, how each has survived to be where they are, and I provide that same dedication and authenticity to each of my clients.

You're the expert on your life and goals—it’s my job to provide the help, insight, and encouragement you need to get there. I work with clients to identify the negative thought patterns and the underlying beliefs causing difficult emotional experiences such as anxiety or depression, replacing them with more adaptive and functional thoughts and coping skills. I love working with individuals who are ready to dive in and see change in this way.
Anxiety and depression can cloud our judgment, closing us off from ourselves and others. We may feel paralyzed, unable to move forward with goals, continually engaging in self-destructive patterns of thoughts and behavior. Perhaps you have achieved some goals, yet still feel empty and “not good enough.” Maybe you’re going through a life transition, such as becoming a new parent, dealing with illness, grieving a loss, or confronting a previous trauma. You don’t have to face it alone.
At Newport Academy, we address the root causes of self-destructive behaviors, not just the symptoms. We guide teens and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing by treating the underlying issues—such as trauma, depression, and anxiety—that catalyze substance abuse, eating disorders, and other co-occurring disorders. Incorporating clinical, experiential, and holistic modalities, our gender-specific treatment is family-focused and results-oriented.
When my clients come to me, they're tired of trying to appear like they've got it together. They feel like they've lost themselves in the daily hustle and trying to get everything "right." They confess they feel resentful and don't know how to prioritize their mental health. They are exhausted from racing thoughts that plague them day and night, and they are experts at analyzing all the "what-if's" that could go wrong. They are the epitome of the "this is fine" meme.
