About My Clients
Are you navigating multiple identities, labels, systems and feeling the impact of all of them at once? Is it overwhelming and possibly unsafe? I know what it's like to be at that crossroads of life and how that can create mental health concerns. I am specializing in working with queer, transgender, gender expansive, geeky and nerdy individuals dealing with anxiety and identity exploration. Together we will ease into the work to help you achieve whatever feels like "wellness" to you.
My Background and Approach
When it comes to my counseling style, it’s important for me to make sure I create therapeutic relationships where people of all backgrounds, bodies and beliefs can feel authentic and safe. As a gay and genderqueer person, I know how critical it is to have a therapist who shares your lived experiences, so constructing a space for queer, trans and gender expansive people is very important to me. Therapy will be structured to your exact needs and doesn't have to be scary! If you want to just talk about your favorite characters, D&D campaigns or newest videogame then that can be therapy! Your interests and what makes you excited will be exactly what we use to help you grow into the best you.
Why We are a Good Fit for You
I believe that as humans we are each a unique combination of parts that form a fully realized self. When society intercedes with labels, boxes and criteria, those aspects are split away from each other and we struggle to connect to both ourselves and others. I will be there to hold a judgment-free space for all sides of you to be seen and heard while also gently pushing you to realize the strength to grow inside all of us. The work we can do is powerful, finding what serves us and leaving behind what does not. As someone a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I know the power that labels can carry and how restrictive it can feel to try to be put in certain groups because of superficial reasons. It was through this experience and navigating my own identities that I came to understand how they all intersect, both within myself and to others.
