Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. If you are experiencing gender identity issues, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s qualified professionals today.
I work with children, adolescents/teens and adults who may need a little extra support navigating social relationships, building self-esteem, navigating stress or mood changes, or who may be having trouble balancing the demands of school, work, and/or relationships. I also have extensive experience working with individuals and their families that identify as LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent.

The alarm goes off Another day… All you want to do is stay in bed and not face another day of being the responsible, high-performing one, while feeling like you are coming apart inside. You get up, suck down coffee, and look at your to-do list. Your heart starts pounding, your palms are clammy, you struggle to catch a breath. There is a reality in which you are at peace. You feel valued and loved, are doing things you used to love, and can care for yourself first. It's a surreal feeling.

For some of my clients, therapy feels like a last-ditch effort to find relief from a life that has become too painful and overwhelming to endure. For others, it is a chance to finally address an issue in their personal life or their relationships that has been bothering them for a long time but that has been difficult to name or understand on their own. In either case, I can help you find lasting change by expanding your sense of who you are and the freedom with which you live your life.

Many of my clients find my practice after years of struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, having a harsh inner critic, or addictions. Unresolved trauma is often the underlying problem, when as children we learned to distance ourselves from our innate higher Self in an effort to “fit in.” I guide clients in listening to their own inner voices, reconnecting to their soul-longings and restoring a more authentically connected existence to the world around them. LGBTQI+ affirming practice.

This can be a scary time that can complicate your relationship with your friends and family. Together we can explore ways to find a little more ease in the journey.

I consider it an honor to work alongside clients as they heal from the effects of ongoing trauma. You may not have considered what you have experienced as "trauma", you may even minimize what you've been through, and yet still find yourself stuck in distressing patterns that are affecting your relationships, self-worth, emotions and health. You and your story deserve compassion and understanding, as you re-connect with your own authenticity and re-claim your agency in life.

Have you noticed that it's in the places you are supposed to be most relaxed (meditation, vacation, weekends, sleep) that your mind feels louder than ever? It might feel like the idea of letting your thoughts go is meant for “normal” people and that does not include you. Maybe you stand guard to keep yourself from your worst case, as if your attention to your thoughts keeps you from descending into unimaginable fear. I can help you sift through the noise and regain your confidence in yourself.

I offer compassionate, solutions-focused therapeutic care to individuals and couples, especially those experiencing depression, identity/esteem issues, or patterns of relational instability. With roughly three years of clinical training from the L.A. LGBT Center and over a decade as a high school teacher, I have particular experience with the challenges faced by adolescents, young adults, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, although I’m eager to work with anyone who feels I could be a match.
