About My Clients
I work with LGBTQ+ folx who struggle with anxiety, sexual issues, gender minority stress, ADHD, and/or identity-related issues. My approach to therapy is LGBTQ+ affirming, sex positive, kink-affirming, and poly-affirming. In other words, instead of dancing around issues related to sexuality, I create a safe space for my clients to explore their problems fully without fear of judgment.
My Background and Approach
Prior to private practice, I worked in a college counseling center, which helped me gain experience working with a wide variety of mental health issues, including but not limited to substance abuse, anxiety disorders, depression, and trauma/PTSD. Want more info on my credentials? I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC SC #7811). My Master's degree is in Clinical Counseling Psychology from The Citadel. My Bachelor's degree is in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina (Go Cocks!). I earned a Certificate in Kink Affirming Professional Practice from The Buehler Institute. I am in the process of completing a Certificate in Clinical Sexology from The Buehler Institute (estimated graduation date: Dec 2023) I am a current member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a member of the queer community, I understand how important it is to work with a mental health provider who is not only affirming, but is also actively challenging the cisgender and heteronormative expectations of American society. I believe that we cannot actively heal unless we discuss and understand how systemic barriers may be impacting us.
