I assist clients with transforming their thought and emotions from being a victim to a survivor.

With trauma being one of my specialty focuses, I often use mindfulness-based therapy to help clients experience their emotions, thoughts, and feelings in the moment. By using mindfulness and meditation, clients learn to calm the somatic and sensory symptoms often associated with experiencing a severely distressing event.

CBT is often used in my practice as one of many of my eclectic interventions. I use it to help clients challenge negative thoughts and emotions and replace them with positive ones. CBT has been proven to help with several problems, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, and severe mental illnesses.

Trauma therapy allows me to assist clients in an impactful way due to the changes in the brain caused by experiencing a traumatic event. Trauma specifically strengthens the freeze, fight, or flight response making individuals always feel they are on alert. In addition, it weakens the areas of the brain that helps regulate emotions and sustains memory. Using trauma therapy, I am not only able to help clients with what they are experiencing but also understand why.

Anxiety can be intimidating due to struggling with the "what ifs," racing thoughts that keep you up at night, difficulty concentrating, and the irritability that follows. Because anxiety is often the result of some or many distressing events past or present, helping clients identify the origin of what they are experiencing so they can become aware of triggers is important. I assist clients with adapting positive coping skills so they can manage the anxiety and live free from the symptoms.

Trauma can be experienced in many forms, childhood trauma, betrayal trauma, enmeshment, and other severe distressing events. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and one with first-hand experience of trauma, I use my education and training to help clients navigate through what they are experiencing. I believe it is not important for the client to discuss the details of the traumatic event to heal but rather learn to cope with living in the now so they can move forward freely.
