About My Clients

Anxiety and depression lies. Did you know that? They straight up lie. They tell us things like we can't do something, that something bad is going to happen, or that the worst case scenario is the the only scenario worth putting thought into. Lies, just lies! Let me help you call that out for what it is - exhausting and useless. Let's get into why this happens in your life, how you are conditioned to respond, and what you can do differently to help put it back in it's place.

How I Can Help You

I'm proud to say I've been in the counseling field in some capacity for the last 20 years. I've been in private practice for the last 13, and I can safely say I do what I love. I have both a master's and Ph.D. in counselor education and I tend to take a very humanistic, balanced, thought-driven approach to working with people. I work with a range of clients from all over, and I'm proud to say that I think my approach of being open, true to who I am, humorous, self-effacing, honest, compassionate, and flexible works quite well for those clients whom I have the honor to work with. Working with me means looking at your life's experiences - your good and your not good - and reconciling how, why, and when those events have an impact on you today. We will make these connections, make sense of them, and then place them back into your life's narrative with more knowledge, more self-compassion, more enthusiasm for your own emotional potential. Hopefully, we have a laugh or two on the way.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe people can transform their understanding of the world and how they behave within it. There are a lot of things that no one can change or have control over, and I believe that thriving means recognizing when one is trying to control what they cannot, and where they are capable of making change. Informed decisions can be made on how to proceed based upon that new knowledge. I believe that we can absolutely never say what we think we would do or not do, or say or not say, or react or not react in any particular situation until we are there. Therefore, my focus is on gaining and perhaps starting to understand a person's perspective and doing what I can to try and understand the world according to them. Then they begin to identify what can change and how to change it. I also happen to love my family, my dog, and my cat. I confess to quoting concepts and lessons from Star Trek or other equally nostalgic pre-21st century entertainment.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
