About My Clients

Everyone enters therapy with their own set of goals and motivations. Many clients come to me when they are searching for meaning and fulfillment in their lives. Some may be seeking relief from stress, anxiety, depression, or other feelings of discomfort. Some may be looking to improve a specific relationship, or their overall ability to connect with others. Some may be healing from a trauma. Some only know that a change is needed, and that support will help it arrive.

My Background and Approach

Luckily, the therapeutic process is just as unique: its ultimate goal is to help us act with integrity according to our authentic selves. When we feel connected in our relationships and community, spend our time doing things we find meaningful, and enjoy our day-to-day lives, this is the integrity we embody. It is the willingness to discover or invent values that are truly our own, and the courage to live by them. My goal as your therapist is to help you arrive at that integrity. I will work with you to develop a greater sense of self-awareness, a capacity to build on what is good, strong, and true about yourself, and a willingness to access feelings of respect and compassion for yourself and others. I believe we all have an inner strength that allows us to grow, no matter how adverse the circumstances that brought us here. A therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty, and non-judgment can bring that strength to its rightful place in our lives.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In our society, we are confronted with stress, frustration, and at times, feelings of despair. Most of us are simply trying to do the best we can with the tools we have available. While learning, healing, and growing can be difficult in the best circumstances, we can make the process easier through understanding our wants and needs and developing the skills that will help us to better express and meet them. I take a humanistic and trauma-informed approach to therapy. I recognize that there are historical, environmental, social, and cultural factors that impact our day-to-day lives and decisions, and it is important to consider these factors throughout the therapeutic process. When we begin to understand ourselves and our ways of thinking and acting as a part of a larger whole, we can begin to improve the quality of our lives and our relationships.
