About My Clients
My clients are youth and adults who are struggling with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, recent trauma, and generational trauma. I specialize in working with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds, including immigrant youth and U.S. born teens with immigrant parents. Our sessions can be in English, Spanish, or Spanglish!!
My Background and Approach
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008 with a Master of Science in Social Work. After spending most of my career working in public health, in 2021, my career shifted to counseling. I utilize mindfulness, breathwork, grounding, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice. Allow me to introduce you to art therapy techniques that support awareness, healing, and growth unique to your journey. I am bilingual (English- Spanish), have a deep understanding of the immigrant experience, first and second generation stress, and the challenges we face today in our school system.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Latina woman, who immigrated to the U.S. as a young child from South America. I moved around quite a bit through childhood and adolescence. My immigrant experience helped shaped who I am today, led me to a career in social work to help others, and rooted my core beliefs in social justice. I embrace being culturally responsive and affirming to all. We all deserve to be happy and free from discrimination. We all deserve opportunities to learn, grow, thrive and belong.
