About My Clients
My goal is to help you get un-stuck. I work with people in their 20s-40s dealing with things like anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, life transitions, and grief. The stress response helps keep us alive, but when we get stuck there we start to feel dysregulated and disconnected from ourselves and the world. Not only do I want to help you explore thoughts, gain insight, and empower you to feel confident in your decisions, I want to help your body finally feel safe and grounded.
My Background and Approach
My clients describe me as authentic, warm, understanding, supportive, and down-to-earth. I believe that YOU are the expert of your own life. I follow your lead, acting as a compassionate facilitator to help with your process of self-discovery. I consider myself a person-centered, holistic therapist. A supportive, non-judgmental environment + unconditional positive regard are the most important parts of the work I do. I pay special attention to the mind-body connection and how our nervous system affects our health and wellbeing. I work from theories like Acceptance & Commitment (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Existential, Expressive Arts, Feminist, Gestalt, Humanistic, Multicultural, Person-Centered, Polyvagal, Somatic, and Trauma Focused. I want to help you find the coping skills to get out of a state of hyperarousal and back into a place of safety and connection.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy is for EVERYONE! I’ve worked with all kinds of people from ages 3 and up! Some of the issues I’ve helped people with include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief & loss, sexual abuse, women’s issues, suicidal ideation, disabilities & chronic illnesses, life transitions, and sexuality & gender exploration.
