About My Clients
Do find yourself feeling more sad & anxious & trapped in a loop, trying to force these emotions to go away? And coming to therapy feels uneasy. Throughout my career I have seen clients attempting to 'push through' this loop of difficult emotions believing this is the only solution. However, this effort is exhausting & keeps clients stuck. As a therapist, I help clients to break from these emotions by creating a safe, empowering, & supportive environment.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is first acknowledging the bravery that it takes for you to reach out and ask for help! I recognize that, for many of us, coming to therapy brings significant anxiety & fear. In response to this, I take the time to be intentional in listening to your story of why you are coming to therapy. To me, you’re not a label or list of symptoms but a human being who is experiencing hard times in being able to cope with emotional distress and turmoil. And during the therapeutic process of discussing these things, we may even uncover together other issues that have always been there and now it's being given a chance of surfacing. In my work with clients, it's important that I maintain a person-centered approach. This gives you the space you need to feel safe and comfortable to be your true self and vulnerable to the experience of being in therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist one of my core values that I bring into each session is seeing that each client has his/her unique reasons for coming to therapy. Utilizing my 10+ years of experience as a case manager in social work and clinical social work, enables me to seeing the whole person. Having a holistic approach to therapy is key to client's success in achieving their goals. And having a cookie-cutter approach can be useful for some aspects of our lives but not as beneficial in a therapeutic journey of self-exploration. As a therapist, I believe that we all experience some sort of increased stress, anxiety, or depression at one point in our lives. There is no one way of living this life and inevitably 'good & bad' things will happen. And as these things appear, I encourage clients to closely reflect on the 'good & bad' things happening around them and be open to embracing & accepting them as opportunities to become more self-aware & understanding of what these mean to them.
