“Say More About That” Show Notes: Episode #16 – An important conversation about Health at Every Size

Jeff Guenther, MS, LPC on Jun 16, 2019 in Say More About That

This episode was inspired by a Facebook comment thread which devolved into a bunch of therapists disagreeing with each other about the use of the word "fat" when describing a client. Jeff calls on Hillary Kinavy, a body positive and Health at Every Size expert, to break it down for us. They discuss what intuitive eating is, how to truly by "body positive", why all diets are bad, what messages we should be sending to our children about their bodies, and how we are taking back the word "fat"!

Jeff, a licensed therapist and the host of Say More About That, talks with Hilary Kinavy about health at every size.

This episode covers:

  • What exactly is Health at Every Size?
  • Why the word "fat" was problematic but isn't anymore. And which words we should steer clear from.
  • What messages we should send to our children about their bodies.
  • Intuitive eating and how it can set you free.
  • Questions clients should ask their therapist to make sure they are competent at being body positive.
