“Say More About That” Show Notes: Episode #12 – Nani, a therapist herself, details the twists and turns in finding her own therapist.

Nani, a woman in her 50’s and a therapist herself, knew at a young age that she wanted to study psychology and work in the mental health field. While she was in college, a professor told her that he didn’t think she was cut out to be a therapist. Nani abruptly changed her career path and instead worked in design for 20 years. She found her way back to grad school once she had gone through her own therapy as an adult. During one of her stints in therapy, she experienced a major betrayal with her counselor that caused a deep rupture. Nani details the unique experience and how the incident unfolded. Nani has been a therapist for years now and sometimes in provides therapy for therapists. She talks about how different it is to provide therapy to someone in the mental health industry and what she does to create a safe space.
