About Our Clients

You may be exploring your neurodivergent identity or reevaluating your life after an autism or ADHD diagnosis. Perhaps you’ve often felt misunderstood or judged, told you’re “too much” or “not enough”. You may have endured shaming, bullying, or discrimination. Coping by masking or pushing through can leave you feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected from yourself. You may now be seeking greater self-understanding, balance, and practical tools to navigate life as a neurodivergent person.

Our Approach to Helping

At Open Doors Therapy, we provide neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed care. Our team has expertise in working with neurodivergent populations, including Autism, Neuroqueer, ADHD, HSP, Gifted and 2e. Most of our therapists also identify as neurodivergent, which can help deepen our understanding of your lived experiences. We get that being neurodivergent in this world can feel unsafe. That's why we take time to build trust and move at your pace, adjusting to your needs without pressure. Healing doesn't look the same for everyone. We can adapt our approach to fit your needs. Sometimes even sharing quiet connection can bring comfort and calm, especially for those of us who experience sensory overload. Our goal is to create a safe space for you to feel heard and seen.

Our Values as Mental Health Practitioners

We view neurodiversity as a valuable form of human diversity. We do not believe that autism or ADHD are disorders that need to be fixed, but rather as neurological differences that shape the way we experience and interact with the world. Our neurotype is part of our identity. We are proud members of the neurodivergent community. We advocate for inclusion of all neurotypes. As human beings, we believe it is our responsibility to support this social justice movement. As mental health providers, we believe it is our duty. We take actions to reduce stigma and shame around autism and ADHD and elevate neurodivergent voices. Key ways we do this is by providing conference presentations, educating and training mental health providers, writing articles and books, and collaborating with other neurodivergent professionals in our advocacy efforts. We feel it is a privilege to work with neurodivergent individuals. We are continually inspired by their courage, compassion, and sense of justice.
