Many of my clients who are bicultural or come from immigrant families are affected by intergenerational trauma. This may manifest through feelings of anxiety, depression, and guilt/shame. I support clients by providing them space to process their upbringing and family history to begin the healing process. Unhealthy relationship patterns and belief systems are addressed.

I use motivational interviewing to assess client’s readiness for change. Some topics covered are identifying triggers and urges, creating a relapse prevention plan, feelings of guilt/shame, and addressing interpersonal impacts that are caused by addictions.

I work with clients to address generalized anxiety and have special interest in social anxiety. I use a combination of CBT, exposure therapy, and mindfulness to challenge unhelpful and anxious thoughts. Developing healthy self esteem is also explored when treating social anxiety.

I've been using applications of CBT with patients since 2013. Every individual is unique so I may use a combination of approaches or work with the individual to find the orientation that works best.
