About My Clients
I work with adults who are hoping to break patterns that are no longer serving them in their life. I specialize in sex therapy, as well as psychedelic integration therapy. Additionally, I have experience working with people who come from dysfunctional families, struggle with substance abuse, codependency, shame, relational challenges, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Folks who are looking to build conscious awareness around their unconscious processes.
My Background and Approach
I started my career working in community mental health before transitioning into private practice. I studied fine art and women and gender studies in my undergraduate program, before choosing to study counseling psychology in my graduate studies. I believe the relationship between therapist and client is like the relationship between two people traveling together on a journey. The therapist is the driver and the client the navigator. You tell me where you want to go, and it is my responsibility to help us get to where you want to go safely. I have advanced training and certification from the University of Michigan in sex therapy. I have my level 1 & 2 MAPS certification and a psychedelic assisted therapy certification from California Institute of Integral Studies. I am genuine with my clients, and believe that authenticity is crucial in order to foster a meaningful therapeutic relationship.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that oppression and marginalization have been, and continue to contribute to suffering and mental health issues. My practice is rooted in the principles of anti-racism, acknowledging the complexities of our diverse world and the impact on our individual and community identities. I embrace a holistic view of healing that encompasses authenticity, compassion, and the strength of community relationships. I embrace cultural humility, rather than cultural competency, because cultural humility is a never ending process. I strive to continue to challenge myself and any implicit biases I may carry from being socialized within a nation founded on colonization and white supremacy. I acknowledge the inherent limitations of my own white identity. There are pervasive impacts of racial trauma, which stems from the deep-seated role that systemic and institutionalized racism plays in our society. It’s crucial to acknowledge that the healthcare system has often perpetuated these issues.
