About My Clients
Trying to weather different storms in life can often feel overwhelming, scary, and sometimes impossible during times of uncertainty. I know all too well how the loss of control and uncertainty can contribute to those heavy storms. As your therapist, I’m honored to help you find your strength, power, and courage through healing work in a safe and non-judgmental space.
My Background and Approach
I received my Bachelor’s from Columbia College Chicago in 2016 and my Master’s from DePaul University (Social Work program) in 2022. During my education and professional experience, I’ve had the fortunate pleasure of working with survivors of domestic violence, couples, and families seeking therapy services, individuals struggling with substance use, and individuals diagnosed with mood disorders. After becoming a caregiver for my mother who was newly diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2016, showing up for her through moments of anxiety, trauma, and depression provided me with the use of learning and understanding different coping skills and techniques that I still practice today. As your therapist, my goal is to provide holistic interventions, skills, and techniques that are supportive, culturally reflective and competent, safe, and unbiased. Within my work, I use evidence-based treatment and approaches to help guide you to dig deeper into understanding your own life goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a licensed therapist based in the Chicago area. I have been both a proud Chicagoan and Evanstonian throughout my life here in Illinois. As a clinician, access to mental health and wealth is not only a passion of mine but a lifelong commitment. Growing up throughout the Chicagoland area to parents who were both community advocates, I was able to see how important it is to challenge the negative stigmas around caring for one’s own mental health needs. Being able to witness the power of community care helped shape my own devotion to social justice, wellness, and helping individuals find healing at their pace. Navigating this world as a queer black clinician has also granted me many opportunities to work with clients who are also often placed in bubbles that can be hard to maneuver away from. I take pride in being able to be a part of my client's mental health and continued life journey. If you want to learn more about how I can help, shoot me a message.
