About My Clients

You may feel lost in your alcohol or drug use, want other options to manage stress and anxiety, or wish to reconnect to joy in relationships. Do you struggle to balance career and home life? Find yourself using substances to numb or disconnect? I specialize in therapy for people in recovery from alcohol and drug use, depression, and anxiety. If you're new to substance use therapy or returning home from residential/IOP treatment, we'll build layers of support together for your recovery.

My Background and Approach

As a solution-focused psychologist, I help clients find answers unique to their professional and personal lives. Clients in therapy with me learn to nurture different parts of themselves and engage in the relationships that matter while decreasing use or abstaining from alcohol and drugs. I'll help you identify the strength and resources that already exist in you while also presenting new skills you may use to cope with stress and anxiety, reconnect in relationships or manage symptoms of substance use. My approach to therapy is interpersonal, meaning I give feedback and use the relationship we form together to help you understand patterns that may emerge in other relationships. Your therapy will be tailored to fit you, but some of the skills and tools I can draw from include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Enhancement, 12-Step or other recovery support, Relapse Prevention Training, and learning to drink alcohol or use substances in moderation.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My background and training is in helping people with co-occurring symptoms; people experiencing both depression/anxiety and substance use. Mental health and substance use can be intertwined, and the skills and tools you'll learn in therapy can be helpful to improve your life across many areas. I also have unique experience working with high accountability medical, legal, and business professionals in developing work/life balance, recovery from burnout, and managing substance use. Many of my clients are newer to therapy, or have never discussed their substance use or other behaviors with anyone. Individual therapy can be profoundly freeing for people holding on to shame and guilt about stigmatized topics like substance use, infidelity, and sexual histories. Because therapy with me is a non-judgmental, neutral, and confidential space your self-disclosure about these areas may leave you feeling lighter, less anxious, and less alone.
