About My Clients
I specialize in mental health support for adults ages 18+ with a focus on healing from trauma, relationships and attachment challenges, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I also have a special interest in working with those in the healing and helping professions, including educators, medical providers, social workers, and legal advocates, and those in the food service industry. As a therapist, I work to foster a collaborative, nurturing, and affirming space for folks from all walks of life.
My Background and Approach
I believe that humans are meant to heal in relation with one another, which is especially important when considering the isolating effects of the times we live in. My work draws from humanistic and attachment-focused therapies, which emphasize self-acceptance and transformation through an understanding of early relationships, and the cultivation of healthy relationships in the present. I incorporate meditation and mindfulness-based practices, feminism, spirituality, and social justice advocacy. I also have experience with harm reduction, 12-step programs, and other recovery modalities. Prior to transitioning to private practice, I worked as a social worker in the fields of community mental health, legal advocacy, and public education. I also have a background in union organizing and advocacy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My practice is built on the values of justice, non-judgement, and holding space for others who are looking to cultivate a strong, kind, and dynamic relationship with themselves. I view therapeutic work through an intersectional and anti-oppressive lens, in that a person's relationship with themself is integral to collective healing from the harmful effects of racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, patriarchy, and late-stage capitalism.
