About My Clients
I work with adults who come from diverse backgrounds regarding race, sexuality and gender. Anxiety, relationships with self and others, and trauma recovery are the most common issues I see in my office. I also work with people experiencing Grief, Coming Out after age 30, therapy first timers, and those struggling with their relationship to food, body image, and exercise.
My Background and Approach
Sometimes my clients tell me they feel tired of talking about long standing issues in their life that they have even worked on in previous therapy. If this resonates, you might be a good fit for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) or Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy sometimes known as Parts Work. When clients are building the tools and capabilities to do more intensive therapy work or need help managing their day to day mental health issues, I like to offer supportive talk therapy blended with Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles and approaches. These types of therapies can often help clients recognize when they are living in the past, too concerned with the future, and equip them with tools for being in the present moment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a yoga enthusiast and love to live music and hitting the dance floor when I'm off the clock. I'd describe my ideologies and beliefs as liberal and in some cases even "woke". Most of my clients will hear my soap box speeches about the benefits of mindfulness and self compassion as it pertains to their goals. Within your goals for therapy, I hope that our work can help you build a stronger sense of trust in yourself and connection with your intuitions.
