I believe a genuine, compassionate, & a therapeutic relationship can have a positive impact on the transformation to a healthier you. I have experience working with a broad range of concerns which include mood & anxiety disorders, domestic violence, trauma & stress related disorders, relationship issues, emotional dysregulation, communication & social skills, behavioral issues, & adjustment/life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialty in children & adolescents from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. In addition to the private practice setting, I provide therapeutic services to adolescents/young adults whom have experienced complex trauma as they prepare to transition to independence. I utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach to individualize treatment based on your specific needs and identified goals. Some of the approaches include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Treatment, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Crisis Management. I have training certificates in Domestic Violence & Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) & I am a trainer in Trauma Crisis Intervention for Families (TCI-F).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about building trust and providing a safe and non-judgmental environment, in which I create a space for you to feel heard and understood. I believe therapy provides the opportunity for you to experience self-growth in many areas and I empower you to take an active role in creating positive change. I strive to help you feel confident in the process and to maintain your growth in order to utilize what you have gained in therapy, in your daily life. I strongly believe in the importance of self-care; not only do I encourage you to participate in such, but I make it a priority to engage in self-care activities myself. Some of my activities include cooking, meditation, reading, going on walks, yoga, binging T.V. shows, hanging out with family & friends, listening to music, coloring, and caring for my plants. I continue searching for new self-care activities; if you are in need of activities to bring you relaxation and peace, I can support you through this search.
