About My Clients
My clients come from all backgrounds and inhabit many different identities. Some of my current areas of expertise include life-cycle LGBTQIA+ issues, gender and sexuality exploration, kink and polyamory, neurodiversity, and both individual and generational trauma.
My Background and Approach
I use a variety of therapy models including DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and other strength-based approaches collaboratively with folks, to help you live a fulfilling and authentic life, as you define it. In our work together I can help you learn how to effectively cope with challenging triggers; and how to reclaim your feelings of self worth from harmful thoughts, feelings and behaviors that no longer serve you. When working with folks who experience ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence; my approach encourages radical self acceptance, assistance when seeking accommodations in both educational and employment settings, and exploring the impact of neurotypical expectations on the neurodivergent mind.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer, trans-masc, non-binary individual who also engages in polyamorous and ethically non monogamous relationships; my work emphasizes the importance of working with the whole person. I honor how your identities inform how you move through the world, as we work towards healing from the harms that you’ve experienced. During my 10+ years working within community mental health, I have challenged myself to develop a deeper understanding of how my inherent privilege as a white clinician impacts the therapeutic relationships I have with folks who are part of marginalized communities. Through these efforts I learned the value of being humble, of always remaining curious and continuously educating myself about the unique role identity based trauma plays in the therapeutic process.
