About My Clients
You may be feeling isolated or overwhelmed as you parent a new baby. You might be struggling as you navigate an anxiety-ridden fertility journey. Or you may feel ready to overcome difficulties brought on by trauma. Whatever challenges you may be facing, I am here to provide a supportive space where you can be wholly you, with all the mess, pain, beauty, and absurdity life brings.
My Background and Approach
With a firm belief that healing and growth happen in relationship, I strive to walk alongside clients with curiosity, empathy, cultural humility, and humor. I work with clients to increase their awareness so they can increase self-compassion, intentionality, and wellbeing. Using a holistic approach, I help clients process difficult life experiences from the past while also finding ways to live in the present moment. I collaborate with clients to leverage their own strengths, forge their own path to healing, and live more fully into their values. I have worked with adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds navigating challenges related to perinatal mental health, depression, trauma, oppressive systems, suicidal ideation, relational conflict, gender and sexuality, and so on. My clinical approach is informed by mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Queer Theory, and trauma-informed approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our ever-evolving identities are shaped by many things. My identity as a therapist is shaped by my continuous clinical training, commitment to social justice, experience as a parent, former career as a teacher, and personal reflection. Just like our identities, I believe mental health challenges are the result of the complex interaction between many things: genetic predisposition, life experiences, learned behaviors, environmental/cultural factors, and systems of power and oppression. Thus, we must attend to the whole person—the mind, body, spirit, family system, community, etc.—if we are to create lasting and transformative change. And while we all experience pain in our lives, that pain turns into suffering when we don't have sufficient support, insight, or resources. I offer clients a space to process and heal their pain, care for themselves, connect with others, and thrive.
