About My Clients
I support LGBTQ+ teens and young adults who may be feeling depressed, anxious, socially isolated, or overwhelmed with grief. Maybe your thoughts are so loud you cannot fall asleep, or you feel a sense of dread when you imagine having to go to school or work in the morning. Figuring out who you are or how to move forward in your life can be challenging, but you are not alone. I support clients in learning to trust themselves, building a support network, and freeing themselves from shame.
My Background and Approach
I have a decade of experience including crisis response, outpatient mental health, college counseling centers and schools. I have a depth of knowledge about navigating educational systems in the Chicago area, which allows me to offer specialized support for school avoidance and anxiety. I use a mix of evidence-based strategies to meet your therapeutic goals. I often incorporate mindfulness to help manage distress. I use ACT and CBT approaches to help us explore your experiences, beliefs, values and goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a strength-based perspective and believe that we all have the capacity to create a meaningful life. I take a warm and straightforward approach therapy and invite both humor and sincerity into the room. I delight in welcoming the whole you into our sessions–both what feels comfortable to you now and the pieces that you are still figuring out. I encourage you to reach out for a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we may be a good fit.
