About My Clients
I specialize in working with clients seeking to recover from trauma and abuse, navigating systemic oppression and complex relationship dynamics, identity exploration, a variety of anxiety disorders, and depressive disorders. I also focus on treating chronic stress and burnout, coping with chronic illness, and strengthening the mind-body connection. Clients have expressed that sessions feel grounded and nonjudgmental, with a balance of candid feedback and identification of patterns as requested.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in a variety of settings in Chicago's social services field, including but not limited to: housing case manager, court-based case manager, community mental health ACT team member, community mental health therapist, and clinical supervisor. My experience working in a variety of social work roles has shaped my belief that it is a privilege to be invited by someone to be a part of their mental wellness journey as their therapist. Currently, I provide individual therapy to adults across the lifespan who are located in Illinois. I use an integrative approach, meaning a combination of different approaches and tools are used to tailor treatment to your unique needs. Modalities include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, Phase-oriented Trauma Treatment, and Humanistic/Person-Centered Therapy. Flexible pacing for sessions with optional, expressive tools we can bring into sessions, like humor, play, and art-making.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My values include but are not limited to: anti-racism, anti-oppressive practices, cultural humility and responsiveness, and queer-affirming principles. I continue to educate myself on decolonized practices in providing therapy and to challenge myself to decolonize my work as a helper.
