My Background and Approach
I have a history of working in social services in the Portland area for several years. My work experiences have been diverse and I have been privileged to work with at-risk adolescents in residential care, with health professionals in residential care for substance use, with individuals transitioning from homelessness, at a practice serving refugees and survivors of torture, and in multiple settings treating substance abuse and mental health. Prior to becoming a therapist I worked for several years as a first responder in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have a Master's in Art Therapy from Marylhurst University. I draw on several approaches including psychodynamic, art therapy, mindfulness, dialectical and cognitive behavior therapies. I believe everyone has the right to live an authentic and safe life. I am committed to working with you to nurture your inner wisdom, navigate hardship, find ease, and embrace life’s pleasures.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It was important to me to open a values based practice. I work from a social justice framework and anti-oppressive lens. I believe healthcare is a right, and keep several slots available for sliding scale clients. If these are not available, I will do my best to help you find affordable care.
