About My Clients
I help folks from a variety of backgrounds, such as veterans, new parents, BIPOC, queer, and trans individuals, through maintaining a validating space and tailoring my approach to suit your specific needs. I keep an open mind and awareness of current events to ensure I’m observing all of the nuances that come with your intersecting identities. I also encourage men in particular to explore and challenge their concepts of masculinity in a positive, healthy light.
My Background and Approach
My preferred approach to counseling is person-centered while also utilizing a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness techniques. My background in rehabilitation counseling provides an additional perspective in helping people with disabilities work through difficulties surrounding self-esteem, finding accommodations for your home, and coping with the associated stigmas and attitudes of your condition. I am also trained in Gottman Level One, which I combine with an emotional focused therapy approach in working with couples. Another issue I've helped with is men facing sexual dysfunction, such as anxiety around sex and erectile dysfunction. Your therapy is always your space, and I always keep in mind other modalities to adapt and adjust to your needs. Maintaining an affirming atmosphere for individuals from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences is instrumental in being an effective counselor for my clients.
