About My Clients
I enjoy working with people who are curious about therapy and how it can be helpful for them. I am comfortable working with individuals who are seeking out therapy for the first time, as well as folks who are well oriented to the therapy process. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and a strong therapeutic relationship enables change to happen. I tailor my approach to meet each of my client's unique needs. I have particular expertise working with healthcare professionals.
My Background and Approach
My practice is informed by humanistic, existential, feminist, and multicultural theory. With a strong generalist background, I have experience working with a wide range of clinical concerns and clients with diverse backgrounds across multiple dimensions, including race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, immigration status, & age. Together, we will work to identify strategies and techniques that can begin to offer some relief. We will also begin to alter problematic/less functional narratives that negatively impact your life. I focus on self-compassion in almost every therapy relationship. My clients appreciate my authentic approach and commitment to the therapeutic relationship.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the strength and resilience of people. Symptoms are often strategies that we have developed to manage difficult circumstances and are no longer effective in our current situation. We cannot ignore the context in which we exist and must take into account larger systemic factors that are impacting our mental and emotional health. In addition to my work as a psychologist, I am also a mother of 3 young children. I employ metaphor, humor, warmth, and colorful language in my work.
