About My Clients
My clients are the experts on their own lives and enjoy collaborative work that promotes their own healing. I specialize in serving the queer population, people who are 60+, people that have experienced incarceration, people with children, people living with HIV/AIDS, and creatives.
My Background and Approach
In 2019, I obtained my BSW from Northeastern Illinois University, followed by an MSW with a specialization in Mental Health from University of Illinois Chicago in 2020. I prioritize providing clients with deep empathy, kindness, humor, and curiosity toward their lives. My goal is to establish a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to express themselves freely and openly. I value autonomy and respect everyone's right to self-determination. To offer the best possible care, I utilize various therapeutic practices and frameworks, such as decolonized mental healthcare, queer affirming care, narrative therapy, mindfulness and grounding techniques, breath work, harm reduction, and client-centered practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe that every person has the potential to change and grow, and that everyone deserves compassionate care, love, and understanding. As a provider, I am committed to ongoing learning from experts in any areas where I may lack knowledge. My top priority is to prevent harm, and to take accountability when necessary. Rather than positioning myself as an all-knowing expert, I approach my work with humility and a recognition of my own limitations. I actively challenge my assumptions and strive to create a nurturing and secure environment where I can hold space for my clients' emotions with tenderness and respect. My interests include HIV/AIDS care, prevention, and research, as well as decolonized mental healthcare and advocacy for the health, safety, and well-being of individuals who use drugs.
