About My Clients
I enjoy working with people living with chronic illnesses and pain, survivors of complex trauma, people figuring out the rhythms of their bipolar disorder, new and expectant parents, and people looking for drug-free tools to improve attention. I have experience working directly with survivors of domestic violence, neurodivergent people, dual diagnosis, people experiencing homelessness, and LGBTQ+ people.
My Background and Approach
Informed by systems theories, and research on the neurobiology of trauma, addiction and pain, I honor the unique experience of each person, bringing curiosity, warmth, and humor to our relationship. Some strategies I draw from include pain reprocessing therapy, neurofeedback, DBT, interpersonal and social rhythm therapy, psychodynamic perspectives, polyvagal theory, harm reduction, feminist and humanistic theories, and mindfulness. I prioritize collaboration and transparency; we will decide together which approaches fit your needs. I am trained as a social worker and have ten years of experience in the community mental health, domestic violence, and homeless service fields.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I will see you not as just a diagnosis or set of symptoms, but as a complex person with inherent strengths and a unique story to tell. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and that your past experiences can help us understand what is troubling you today. I believe that outside of any particular modality or technique, it is the quality and trust of the therapeutic relationship that makes therapy "work". I will set aside regular time to discuss how you're feeling about treatment, about the fit, and how you want to be using our time together.
