About My Clients

I specialize in reproductive health and the perinatal period (pregnancy & postpartum), trauma support & recovery, and life transitions. I can help with mood issues (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder), adult or childhood trauma, perinatal mental health concerns & birth trauma (for birthing & non-birthing parents), family-building or infertility, gender & sexual identity exploration and development, family & relationship difficulties, and grief.

My Background and Approach

I am a relational, strengths-based, trauma-focused, LGBTQ-affirmative psychotherapist. I consider it a privilege to bear witness to stories of pain & healing. A safe relationship is foundational to the work of therapy. I will work to understand what will make our therapeutic relationship feel safe to you. To build your trust, I bring a non-judgmental & curious stance. I seek to understand where our experiences and identities may intersect and diverge both in and out of the therapy room. I value intersectionality and difference. Our therapy sessions will depend on your needs & the goals we develop together. We will often start by talking, but I also incorporate playful, mindfulness and body-based strategies to support our goals, and use skills-based therapies to help you develop a rich toolbox of coping strategies. I am also trained in EMDR, which is an effective approach to treating trauma. We will work together to understand what you need for healing and growth.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I was led to my career in mental health through my own experiences with therapy, through my work in health research and civil service, and through serving as a birth doula to young parents. My approach to clinical work is integrative, relational & systemic. This means that I see relationships as foundational to healing, and draw on multiple therapy modalities to promote healing and growth. I believe that many factors impact mental health, and that these occur within individuals, families, communities, and whole cultures. It is important to me to listen deeply. My style is warm and non-directive, though I will provide guidance and teach you skills as they feel helpful. It is important to me to take time to evaluate how well our work together is helping you. Accessibility matters. I reserve 15-20% of my appointment times for folks needing sliding scale services. If you have an infant, they are always welcome in my therapy room.
