My Background and Approach
While I draw from various therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, strength-based, solution-focused, and Gottman method for couples therapy, I frequently use the EMDR approach to address and resolve various distressing experiences. I have undergone comprehensive training in EMDR and continually pursue ongoing education to expand its use to treat a range of distressing events. We will first identify and explore issue/s to target, identify or develop coping strategies and resources to ensure you're ready to begin the use of EMDR, provide an understanding of EMDR, and begin processing memories of incidents using guided hand movements or other variations to reduce distress. We will identify and shift negative beliefs toward more positive ones, improving your emotional response and coping.
