About My Clients
My therapy couch is most often occupied by queer and trans folx, those with religious trauma and or/family of origin challenges, and those curious about their potential neurodiversity. Clients who thrive in working with me seek a space in their life that feels safe to process their challenges. If you are someone who is motivated by the idea of a place to engage in self-reflection, personal growth, and moving beyond the obstacles the systems of our culture forces us into, we may be a good fit!
My Background and Approach
My experience in counseling includes primarily adults struggling with a range of concerns including anxiety and depression, complex trauma, childhood abuse, systemic marginalization, spiritual considerations, and gender and sexuality identity exploration. It is my priority in my relationship with clients to provide as much choice and autonomy in the therapy process as possible as we make space for each of the client's needs to be addressed. My therapeutic process blends a baseline of trauma-informed care and implements expressive and creative arts therapies and mindfulness-based approaches based on theories that prioritize the human being (you!) as capable, powerful, and worthy. Some of the theoretical approaches I pull from include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered Expressive Arts Therapy, and Relational-Cultural Theory. I know these can feel very jargon-eqsue, so I always welcome questions and curiosity about what these mean in our work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Part of what draws me to my work as a therapist is the concept of safety in relationships. I focus a lot of my work, both personally and professionally, on cultivating safe community, especially pertaining to making spaces for minority groups or individuals who have experienced isolation or marginalization. I am especially drawn to my work with LGBTQ+ folx, individuals in the polyamory and kink community, and any of those who have experienced trauma based on their intersecting identities. I believe developing connections and shared community is a part of next revolution of humanity, and make it a priority to, on a micro scale, create that space in my office.
