Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

What does it mean to life a life that's rich and meaningful? How can we feel most connected to ourselves and others? How can we feel "tapped in" to life? Perhaps you've already done some work on your own, in therapy, or in spiritual practice to gain awareness of yourself. You understand how you move through the world, where you get stuck, and how to regulate your emotions. Your life feels stable, supportive, and "good enough." But you find yourself asking, "what's next? How do I go deeper?"

I may be a particularly good fit for those who are navigating the impacts of complex trauma, domestic violence and partnership challenges, religious and spiritual trauma, attachment wounding, chronic illness and medical trauma, LGBTQ+ clients and those wanting to explore identity. I welcome clients whose needs and life experience exist outside of these particular areas, as well.
I am here to help people struggling with navigating a world that feels like it's not built for them. Whether it's working through gender/sexuality issues, trauma, or figuring out how to be in the world without drugs and alcohol, I work with folks to strengthen their own inner wisdom in order to walk through the world whole and confident with a sense of belonging.
