Accepting Clients

We are wounded in big and small ways in our relationships. Healing those wounds happens in relationships, too.

Clinical Social Worker in Chicago, IL

About My Clients

I am particularly experienced in working with people who struggle with disordered eating as well as chronic dieters Health At Every Size principles (HAES). I enjoy working with LGBTQ+ people and those engaged in nontraditional shapes of relationships. I also support people with mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, psychosis, and substance use. I love seeing clients who are interested in understanding their relational style and motivated for change!

My Background and Approach

I offer acceptance while also challenging my clients. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and psychodynamic perspectives. Above all, I value the relational task of therapy. It’s my job to co-create collaborative and meaningful relationships that serve as a container for growth. I use humor and curiosity as tools. I strive to be culturally-affirming and trauma-informed. I understand that our individual experiences and identities shape our contexts of harm and healing. I am continuing specialized training in mind-body approaches including Internal Family Systems. If you want to learn more, reach out and we'll set up a time to chat and see if we're a good fit.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I align myself with liberatory movements such the Movement for Black Lives, the labor movement, climate justice, and freedom for LGBTQ people, immigrants, and disabled people. I have a personal history of organizing for reproductive justice, local campaigns, and mutual aid work focused on homelessness. Lucky for you, this is in a different city, so we probably don't already know each other! I also believe that being engaged in activist and organizing spaces can be exhausting and detrimental to individual mental health. I don't want progressive clients to ever feel anxious about divulging their issues with/in these spaces. I get it. I believe that Chicago is the greatest city in the world. I believe the lakeshore counts as a beach.
