About My Clients
Do you find yourself caught in a cycle of self-criticism, leading to feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness? Do your emotions sometimes overwhelm you, resulting in reactions that feel disproportionate to the situation? Navigating relationships can become even more challenging when affected by family dynamics. Maybe you have been having concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, career/school stress, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts, and interpersonal challenges.
My Background and Approach
Imagine acquiring skills to navigate your inner critic and reduce feelings of hopelessness when triggered. Imagine understanding the reasons behind your actions which can provide motivation to overcome self-sabotaging behaviors. Let's build the courage to confront and overcome fears and self-perceptions that may be holding you back. I see small "t" trauma as something that encompasses less severe yet distressing experiences that affect mental health such as emotional neglect or chronic stressors. While they may not induce PTSD, they can lead to anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. Furthermore, there can be a lot of unconscious thoughts behind why you do things the way you do. My role is to walk alongside you and bring insight so you can be more aware of your actions and thoughts. I empower you to discover your needs and change how you operate so you can be the best version of yourself. My goal is to foster a supportive environment where we navigate challenges together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As an Asian American from an immigrant family, I understand firsthand how experiences shape thoughts and behaviors. There is a constant fear of failure and perfectionistic ideals that keep you feeling stuck. Family interactions trigger memories and emotions. I recognize the importance of cultural sensitivity in therapeutic approaches and emphasize the strength that exists in one’s resilience, perseverance, and care despite difficult emotions and expectations. My therapeutic approach is centered around providing a nurturing and empathetic environment where individuals can continue to explore their emotions, challenges, and aspirations. Additionally, I speak conversational Cantonese, basic Korean, and basic Japanese. I enjoy diving into different cultures. Somewhere along the way, I realized that I have a gift of picking up new languages.
