About My Clients
If you've been feeling lost in your life, disconnected in your relationships, and alone to figure it all out, it would be an honor to help you find your way back to yourself and the people you love most. I specialize in working with people in distressed relationships, and I work with current and former members of the LDS/Mormon church. I am licensed to work with people living in Colorado and Illinois.
My Background and Approach
I have a Master's degree from CU Denver in couple and family therapy and 9+ years of specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) for individuals. EFT is considered the clinical gold standard of couple therapy. It gets straight to the heart of what keeps couples unsatisfied and disconnected. I help couples clearly map out their relational turmoil in terms of their negative cycle, and step into emotional safety, vulnerability, and availability together. AEDP changes our relationship to ourselves and our emotions. Together, we deliberately slow down and get in touch with your emotional world. We clarify why you feel emotionally numb and/or emotionally flooded, and we work to understand how your past impacts your current relationships. I also specialize in working with people from across the Mormon faith spectrum, including people going through faith crises or couples in mixed faith marriages.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my professional mission to help people come into compassionate contact with their emotional experiences, develop a more secure and caring relationship with themselves and others, and feel less alone in this world. I have a particular passion for working with current/former members of the LDS church. Being Mormon is a totally unique experience that profoundly impacts the way you view yourself, your relationships, and the world. I was born and raised in Mormonism and left the church after a faith crisis in my mid-twenties. Despite leaving, I will always feel tied to my Mormon roots and have a vested interest in the emotional welfare of current/former church members. I work with people who are deeply examining their faith, and I work with active members who are not coming to therapy to process anything about Mormonism, but want a therapist who understands their background and knows immediately what a "ward" is. I'm here for either!
