About My Clients
Who you are… straight, transgender, bi, lesbian, gay, queer, genderqueer, questioning… is an essential part of our work together. I specialize in identity, gender-expansive individuals, sexuality, traditional and non-traditional families: blended, multiracial, multigenerational, foster, poly, leather and kink families, persons experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, chronic illnesses and substance use issues.
My Background and Approach
I provide a safe, warm, non-judgmental and supportive environment where we can explore feelings, thoughts and behaviors. My theoretical perspective is trauma informed, harm reduction and strength based, with clinical expertise working with underserved and marginalized people experiencing depression, anxiety, identity, chronic and persistent mental illness, sex and substance use issues. Growth happens through reinforcing your values and strengths, increasing self-awareness and building a tolerance for distress and ambiguity.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Social justice motivated me to pursue a graduate degree in Social Work from Jane Addams College of Social Work at University of Illinois in Chicago. My understanding of the effects of oppression on our bodies and mental health deepened over time; so has my understanding of personal and community resilience and strength. I’m moved by the beauty in our diversity and bearing witness to suffering and strength.
