About My Clients
I work best with folks who might not fully understand why they do the things they do, or experience the things they experience, but are interested in finding out. Our work typically involves digging deep; I work hard to create a safe and comforting environment for what can sometimes be discomfort-provoking interior work. Folks who experience anxiety, depression, trauma, feelings of stuck-ness or loneliness, or are otherwise unhappy or dissatisfied will likely benefit from working with me.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic approach prioritizes exploration, connection, and authenticity in order to help people gain understanding into themselves and claim power in making change. In official terms, I blend Psychodynamic, Relational, Experiential, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapies for both individuals and couples. As a beneficiary of therapy myself, I understand the healing power of being deeply understood, never judged, and fiercely supported.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Coming from a social work background, I maintain a strong awareness of (and resistance to) oppressive and exploitative systems of power. Most of the folks I work with experience some amount of marginalization based on their sexuality, race, gender, and/or ability, and our work often involves claiming or re-claiming power in a world and relationships that are often unjust.
