About My Clients
If you’ve been suffering in silence, I want you to know that life can get better. Strong and resilient people also need support. Maybe you’ve been struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or imposter syndrome. Despite your achievements and strengths, you can’t tune out the voice that says you’re not good enough. You don’t have to do this on your own. With therapy, my clients have become healthier versions of themselves, healed from their childhood trauma, and developed healthy relationships.
My Background and Approach
I work from a trauma-informed, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive lens. My main approach is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a brain based therapy that helps people find relief from traumatic and stressful memories. I integrate elements of Person-Centered Therapy, Brainspotting, attachment theory, parts work, and mindfulness in sessions. I have over 13 years of experience helping clients find relief from stress and anxiety, childhood trauma, low self-esteem, PTSD, panic attacks, grief, and family/relationship conflicts. Because starting therapy can be anxiety provoking, I strive to create a safe and therapeutic space for all. You can count on me to be warm, authentic, and compassionate. I will listen to you and support you as you figure out your path. I will teach you skills to help you cope. I will encourage your growth and challenge you when you try self-sabotage. My only goal is that you leave therapy feeling more at peace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Mexican immigrant who grew up in Chicago, I have a passion for working with the Latinx community. I believe you get the best care when you work with someone who not only understands your language but also understands your struggle. I founded my practice, Mindfully Serene Psychotherapy, with the goal of providing quality and culturally sensitive therapy because I believe that access to excellent mental health care is a matter of social justice.
