About My Clients
If you have felt minimized, misunderstood, unheard, devalued, isolated, gaslit, or like a burden to others while navigating Trauma, Mood Disorders, and/or ADHD, I am here to validate and be a support! You don't have to keep pushing through alone. You don't have to mask or downplay how you are feeling or what you are experiencing because I will understand. Together, we can ride out the intense moments and build upon tools and supports to help harder moments feel more manageable.
My Background and Approach
My approach entails fostering a strong therapeutic rapport by being warm, inquisitive, validating, and non-judgmental. Emotional suffering or intense emotions are exacerbated by isolation and de-validation, and I am mindful in my therapeutic approach to not enact that. I utilize a person-centered approach in which I intentionally listen to what a client needs and collaboratively support the client in meeting that need. For example, if a client has a need to process past traumatic memories, we might explore and try out various trauma-informed modalities or if a client has a need to strengthen specific coping skills, we explore and try out active skills-based strategies. I believe clients know best what their needs are. I received my master's degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago in 2016 with a specialization in trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that it is never too late to seek out supports through therapy and that nobody should have to suffer or endure stressors alone. I believe that no matter how horrific past traumas were or how intense current moments are, there is a near future that could look and feel how you would like it to! In suffering there is resilience; in shame there is empowerment; in diversity (including neurodiversity) there is beauty and strength. I will always believe in affirming and being an ally to all identities, sexual preferences, cultures, and religions meaningful to an individual. My interests include sleeping in (I am such a night-owl), going on long walks with my dog, and spending time with my toddler. My ultimate long-term goal is to start a non-profit (in addition to staying active in my current clinical practice)!
