My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative and emphasizes pace, meaning you help to inform us where we go. I use evidence-based approaches like Relational-Cultural Theory, CBT, Narrative Therapy, and psychodynamic theory. I enjoy seeing people holistically and within context. My degree concentration in Latinx Mental Health encourages me navigate therapy sessions with each client’s cultural values at center. In doing so, I ensure a strength-based approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Black woman therapist, that was drawn to this field because historically it was not created for individual with marginalized identities. If anything it was a field to showcase how inferior individuals of marginalized identities are. However I wanted to infiltrate this concept, and showcase how this theories are rooted in White Supremacy can be adapted to an individual who uphold many intersecting identities, with utilizing history, context, and their personal world view. Everyone deserve this level of care.
