About My Clients
My clients want to learn more about emotional expression and are open to art therapy. They identify as Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian descent, but especially Filipino/a/x. They need help with trauma, burnout, effects of oppression, people-pleasing tendencies, their activism efforts, grief/loss, anxiety and depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, health and aging issues, such as living with cancer, skin conditions and other chronic illnesses.
My Background and Approach
I see my values as holistic, intersectional and self-empowering, so I enjoy working from that approach. I believe the personal is political and the political is personal. I believe that my clients are always capable of more than they think and I hope they learn the "courage to be imperfect." Creative expression is natural to all of us, whether it's in shapes, colors, sounds, words or movement. This, along with rest, stillness, compassion and joy are forms of resistance, as well as love for self and for all.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My clients will be meeting a short, middle-aged Filipino lady who simply wants to hear your story. I grew up on stories from my grandmother, my friends, my millions of books and horribly outdated '80s sitcoms. You can expect humor, patience, reflection and silence. I try to constantly educate myself and work towards liberatory, diversity, equity and inclusion practices. I try to be an active member of many BIPOC therapist communities and take my allyship of LGBTQIA and physically, medically and financially challenged communities seriously.
