About My Clients

I work with adults, partners, and families, and I work with clients on a range of issues including: trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, LGBTQIA identities, family conflict, attachment and relationships, poly/ ENM, sexuality, self-harm, and parenting children with mental health and behavioral health issues. I enjoy working with adults of all ages and older teenagers and I especially love working with other transgender and queer identified folks.

My Background and Approach

In my practice, I utilize approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Collaborative Problem Solving. I hold a core belief that no one wants to be "bad," do "bad," or "fail." Keeping this in mind, I prefer to highlight strengths and focus on how we grow and learn in those challenging moments. I write and craft, and I enjoy pulling in my client's creativity to create and process in symbolic and non-traditional ways. While I work through these lenses, my clients are in the driver's seat and they determine who is in the car, where the destination is, and how we are going to get there. My role is to help navigate the road ahead, process through things that have come before that have steered you off course, and help you move towards your destination safely. I like to create my client's treatment plans collaboratively, focusing on your therapeutic goals to make sure we keep on track.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In therapy, I believe connection is key. My goal is to build a trusting, supportive therapeutic relationship where my clients feel safe to share with me and comfortable setting and working towards their therapeutic goals together. I love to find moments of humor and connection, but I am also prepared to sit with my clients in their moments of pain, processing and healing. I've been on both sides of the chair in therapy, and I think that speaks to my trust and confidence in the healing power of a therapeutic relationship. As a friend of mine used to say, "We may not wear the same shoes, but we've shopped in the same shoe store." I strive to create an environment where my clients feel seen, heard, and understood. I identify as a transgender queer man, a writer, a trauma survivor, a therapist, a creative, a dog-owner and a dad-joke teller. I find it easy to connect with folks from all walks of life. I believe Black and Brown Lives Matter, no human is illegal, and I trust in women.
