About My Clients
I welcome people from all walks of life as I believe everyone needs to take care of their mental health. Challenges that I am particularly familiar with are trauma, mood disorders, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience working with adolescents and teens who are struggling with behavior in home and at school.
My Background and Approach
My Background experience includes working in Community Mental Health, a Therapeutic Day School, and a Residential facility for youth. This breadth of experience has led me to see each individual as unique and tailor my approach according to what I believe would benefit them the most. I encourage mindfulness and value EMDR as a particularly effective modality for some clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in people's responsibility to take care of themselves and the people around them. It seems to me that meaningful relationships are one of the most important things we can build during our lifetimes. That is why I chose to be a counselor. Because at the end of the day, taking care of these relationships (and the environment!) is a true purpose. I also believe in the power of healing. I have worked with people who have suffered atrocities in their lifetimes, and who find a way to see the light. One of my favorite quotes is "You don't know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have" - Bob Marley. This speaks to how I see people. I believe in our inner power, and my job as a therapist is to help my clients find their inner power and use it for good.
